Our R3 Sale is fast approaching, and we need your help!
There are various ways you can be involved. Do you have excess toys, clothes, or household items you would like to sell? Then come be a vendor at the R3 Sale! Booth rental forms will be coming home with children this week, and are also available in the office or at our website. Want more information? Email our Program Lead Beth Poronsky at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you would rather donate your unused clothing or household items, we will begin accepting donations next Monday, April 16th. Items can be brought into the Gathering Place.
We are also in need of volunteers to help sort and price donations, and to work the day of the festival. You can sign up to volunteer by following this link: http://signup.com/go/dVMvOsZ
Thank you for your help supporting our school, and the values of reusing, reducing, and recycling!
Summer Camp Information is Now Available!
Please visit our website for details about weekly themes. Flyers will be coming home this week with children who are currently enrolled at Overfield. Camp will take place the weeks of 6/11, 6/18, 6/25, 7/9, and 7/16. Registration opens on Monday, April 23rd at Overfield and online.
Our work party was a success thanks to the efforts of our wonderful volunteers, who included Allen Jones, Stephanie and Evan Anderson, Heather and Jeff Krey, Will and Jessica LeRoy, Colleen Behm, Sarah Hart, Nathan Friedly, Alex Hamilton, Deb DeCurtins, and Erin Johnston. We had many little helpers on hand, too, so a big thank you to all of the children who helped spread mulch on the playground. We also want to extend our appreciation to Grace Hartman, an Overfield alumnus, who came back to help us care for our grounds.
Spring has finally arrived! It took no time at all for the children to discover that the newly added green space makes a great place to run and play soccer.
This past Saturday Overfield parents and children, plus an alumnus, worked hard adding fresh mulch to our play areas and a sparkle to the studio and gathering place. Thanks to all who participated! Again, a special thanks to Allen Jones for bringing his tractor, tools and work toys.
The children have been working in the vegetable garden. Each class has painted a sign designating their chosen raised bed, where they have been weeding and have started planting some of their favorite vegetables.
Our Overfield honeybees survived the long winter and seem to be thriving. I added another box of framed comb last week to keep the worker bees busy. I have my fingers crossed they will not get the urge to swarm and take half the colony with them. We have a new NUC of honeybees arriving the second or third week of May. The K/1 class painted the stack of bee boxes for their new home. We look forward to seeing it in the apiary.
Thursday of this week we have Girl Scouts coming to the Overfield after school. They will be helping plant wildflowers in the pollinator garden. Can not wait to see our garden in bloom. Get outside and enjoy nature!
