• Class photos this week: Each class will gather this week in front of the beloved big red firetruck on our playground to have their picture taken. Order forms will be available at conferences if you’d like to order your own copy of the class picture. Your child should come dressed, as always, in clothes that are appropriate for play. Thank you to South Side parent Laura Parker for being our photographer this year.
  • Conferences this week, No Classes Friday: Teachers have been busy preparing photographs, notes and portfolios of children’s learnings to share with parents at conferences later this week. Please contact your teacher if you are unsure of your appointment time. To accommodate conference scheduling, there will be no classes on Friday, May 1. If you need care for your child at Overfield on Friday, please contact Stephany in the office by phone or email to reserve space.
  • Night Hike, May 8, 6:30 p.m.: Our annual spring night hike is just around the corner, and all families are invited to attend to experience the environment that exists each night while we are away from school. Our kindergarteners have been working to prepare, and will serve as guides for the evening. Families visit stations that teach about the life around our school grounds. And, to celebrate, our kindergarten children camp out in tents after the spring hike.
  • Jim McCutcheon Residency and Celebration: We will host one final artist-in-residence this school year, our dear friend, Jim McCutcheon, the Guitar Man! He will join us the week of May 11 to share his collection of stringed instruments and his love of music with our students. Thursday night, May 14 at 6:00, all are welcome to join in a celebration of the week: a concert and sing-along led by Jim.
  • Free Money for Overfield! If you shop at Kroger, you can earn money for Overfield that goes directly toward buying healthy snacks for students. Simply register your Kroger Plus card online once a year, and the school will receive money back whenever you shop with your card. It’s easy to sign up or renew your support for Overfield:
    • Go to Kroger’s website at https://www.kroger.com/communityrewards
    • Sign in OR Create an account
    • Click on “Enroll”
    • Enter “Overfield” in the search box
    • The school’s name will come up. Click the circle next to Overfield and follow the on-screen instructions to complete your enrollment.
  • Another way to earn money for Overfield is by saving Box Tops for Education. To participate in this program, collect “box tops” from participating products then turn them in to the collection areas in the classrooms and Gathering Place. Each box top is worth 10 cents at this time. We will check the collection areas regularly and submit box tops for redemption twice a year. It would be especially helpful if the parents were to cut the box top labels on the line since this is how they must be submitted in order to be redeemed.
