• Closed Monday, January 19: We will be closed this Monday, January 19, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
  • Afternoon Enrichments on Tuesdays: After School Enrichments began last Tuesday and will continue throughout the spring. There’s still space for Overfield-aged children in the first session of Japanese Language and Culture, which meets from 4-5:30. Please contact Stephany in the office if you’d like to enroll your child. You can register at a discounted rate of $100 for the remaining 5 weeks of this session. The registration form can also be downloaded here.
  • Kindergarten Information Meeting, January 20, 6:30-7:30: All those who are interested in sending their children to Overfield Kindergarten for the ’15-’16 school year are invited to attend this meeting. We will talk about what kindergarteners need developmentally and academically, and give examples of how this kind of learning happens at Overfield.
  • State of the School, Friday, January 23, 6-7:30: We’re taking a new approach with our annual State of the School meeting. This year it will be held on a Friday night with drinks and food for the adults and childcare for the kids. It will be a Parents Night Out where the topic of conversation is what we want our school to be and how we’re going to get there. Many parents shared their ideas at the November OFP meeting on what their dream school would look like. This data was used alongside teacher and trustee input to create a draft strategic plan that will be offered at the State of the School for feedback. ALL ARE WELCOME!
  • Connect with other Parents! January 29, 6:30: All parents and caregivers are invited to the next OFP (Overfield Family Partnership) Meeting. The focus of the meeting will be how parents can offer and support Overfield-style experiences at home with their children. It will be a fun night for parents to interact with others and will be filled with interesting idea stations on how to beat “Cabin Fever,” including ideas on how you can organize your play space at home, importance of gross motor skills for your child and art materials/supplies that will help stimulate your child at home. Childcare is available. Contact Stephany in the office by phone or email to reserve space for your child.
  • Open House, Sunday, February 8, 2–4: We can use your help in bringing new students to campus for the ’15-’16 school year. Some of the best tools we have for recruiting new families is the stories and recommendations of current parents. Please contact Stephany by phone or email if you’d like to help during our February 8 open house by talking to prospective families and giving tours of the campus. You can also help by spreading the word about our open house. We’ll soon have yard signs and flyers available for you to share, and details about the $100 tuition credit you can claim by referring a family that enrolls.
  • Community Gala and Auction: Tickets are now on sale for Overfield’s inaugural Community Gala and Auction, taking place February 21 at the Troy Country Club. Auction items will include collaborative artwork by Overfield children. Get your tickets and more information online at overfield.org/gala.
