2017-2018 Registration Information is Now Available!
It’s hard to believe that it’s already time to begin thinking about next school year. Registration begins February 27, 2017 for currently enrolled families and alumni. Families from the community may enroll beginning at our Open House, March 11, 2017 from 1-3 p.m. Each child will receive forms with our class options and descriptions for the 2017-18 school year. Please note a new option for this year, a combined kindergarten and first grade class. We are also offering a pilot program of Saturday Toddler classes for those who would like a weekend option; these will run April 22- May 20. A separate flyer about this program will go home with children next week. We are always looking for new ways to meet the needs and wishes of our families, and are looking forward to these expanded class offerings. Please let us know if you have any questions about class options, and don’t hesitate to consult your child’s teachers about specific class placement for next year.
Jim McCutcheon, known affectionately as the “Guitar Man,” is one of the recipients of the 2017 Governor’s Awards for the Arts in Ohio! He has been coming to Overfield for more than a decade as one of our three visiting artists. We look forward to welcoming him to our school again in May. Congratulations, Jim!
Playground Renovation Update
We will soon be embarking on one of the more ambitious projects in recent history here at The Overfield School. The new Playground Project hopes to introduce a host of improved play-based learning opportunities for the kids. We are looking at breaking-up the project into “Phases”. At this point in the planning, the first phase is comprised of:
1. Swing sets
2. Construction of hills to add additional challenge and perspective to the topography
3. Removal of the asphalt.
4. Construction of a new and improved asphalt surface along with the creation of paths that will allow for wheeled vehicles (bikes, scooters, etc.)
5. Rainwater supplied water feature. (Hand pump)
6. Monkey bars/jungle gym(s) for additional climbing challenges.
We do have a fund for playground renovations, but would like to make these funds go as far as possible. With this in mind, we would like to distribute a sign up, in an attempt to see if there are parents who may be able to help us bring the new playground to life. The sign up will be designed to place you on projects where your skills will be of use, and to discover special talents that you may hold that you would be willing to contribute. For example, skills such as carpentry, landscaping, electrical, plumbing, general construction, heavy equipment operation, project management, etc. will be of very high value to this endeavor. Please look for a sign up to arrive in your email box very soon! Thank you,
Allen Jones, Overfield Family Partnership Co-Lead

Lost and Found
Is your child missing a hat, pair of gloves, or a jacket? Check our lost and found! This bin in the Gathering Place is overflowing with misplaced items. At the end of the month all unclaimed items will join our “extra clothes” bin. Thanks for your help with reuniting these items with their original owner!
