There will be an outdoor concert with Jim at 6:30 pm on the main playground on Thursday, May 20th. We hope to see you all there!
Spring Night Hike
Friday, May 14th from 6:30-8 p.m.
We hope you will join us this Friday for our annual spring Night Hike, hosted by our K/1 and 2nd/3rd grade classes!
All families are invited to a socially distant walk to learn about a diverse array of topics related to the campus of Overfield. Find out about some of the local animals that call our campus home. Explore the constellations of the night sky, and hear about the natural disasters that have shaped the landscape. Take a walk into the history of this land–from prehistory through the history of Overfield. After your hike join your friends at the fire pit to roast marshmallows and enjoy a lovely spring evening outdoors.
We hope to see you there!
Our second and third grade students had the opportunity to visit the Overfield Tavern Museum, which was built by Benjamin Overfield in 1808 and was the home of our school from 1960-1989! The children were able to learn about early 19th century life, help plant herbs and vegetables for the garden, and make both rag dolls and tin punch lanterns. What a fun learning experience for our children, and what a wonderful way to connect to both the history of Troy and the history of Overfield!
We’d like to extend a thank you to the Miami County Park District for their loan of numerous storybook trails to our school this spring. Our latest trail, which features the book Cecily Cicada by Patsy Helmetag, will certainly be relevant soon when we are visited by the Brood X cicadas!
Thank you, Miami County Park District!
