Hello Overfield Families,
Well, our string of luck with Monday weather ran out today! Though certainly no one would call today balmy, there were still countless spots of beauty to be found–as there always are in the world, if we but have the eyes to see. This has been a useful frame of mind to employ this spring, as we are still in the midst of much uncertainty and change.
Due to the extra uncertainty this year has wrought on all of us, we are actively preparing for the many scenarios that both summer and fall may bring us here at Overfield. We continue to diligently follow any data and guidance that comes out, in order to make the best decisions for children’s health and safety.
In this vein, we will be making a final decision on Summer Camp by May 25th, if not sooner. As Erin explained in her email communication last week, we are also mindful of the need for families to plan, both logistically and financially, for next school year. In support of this, the tuition schedule for next year has been adjusted from July-April to now be August-May. That means that no payments are due until August 1st, which we anticipate will allow for us all to have a better sense of what the 2020-21 school year will look like before required payments begin. We are still hoping and planning for a typical school year. That being said, we recognize that there are many unknowns and things that may be out of our control. Thus, we are also actively preparing many different contingency scenarios. When, and if, we receive information that prohibits us from carrying on with a typical year, we will then dig more deeply into these scenarios.
In keeping with our philosophy, you will be a part of the dialogue during this whole process. We are 100% committed to being flexible, understanding, and responsive to our families’ unique situations. We are still choosing to be optimistic that we will be able to be together in the Fall in a more normal way. Our smaller numbers and expansive spaces–both indoors and outdoors–work to our advantage. As Albert Einstein says, “Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.” We ask that you hold out hope with us! And, as always, please don’t hesitate to reach out with anything you may need.
Best wishes, Beth Poronsky – Overfield Program Lead
