Fireside Talk

Join the Overfield Family Partnership and Program Lead, Beth Poronsky for a “Fireside Talk” following drop off on Thursday, November 18th.

We will meet at the Overfield Fire Pit in the meadow for conversation, community and a nature hike in the preserve. Feel free to bring a camp chair for our Fire Pit time. We will also provide coffee to sip to keep us warm.

We will head into the preserve for our nature walk sometime after 9:15 to ensure that everyone has time to drop off their kiddos. All are welcome to join, including little ones.

Please feel free to bring questions for our Fireside time. Samples include: reducing screen time, tips on exploring nature as a family, questions about the school year or OFP, did your child do “xyz” at this age, bringing the Reggio philosophy into home life, etc.

We hope that you are able to join us! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to familypartnership@overfield.org. Hope to see you there!

Night Tree 2021

Each year we have a winter celebration called Night Tree that is inspired by the book of the same title by Eve Bunting. The story chronicles one family’s annual tradition of making food for animals and then traveling to the same tree in the forest to hang the tasty treats. For over twenty years we have been inspired by this book and have adopted a similar custom.

Over these next few weeks, the children will be researching what animals live around our beautiful school. They will begin preparing treats for our local animals, and making art to decorate the patio on the playground. Each class will come together at night with their families to sing songs, listen to the Night Tree story, hang treats for the animals on the trees around campus, and enjoy tasty treats of our own. We invite you and your family to experience this tradition with us at the times listed in “Important Dates” section above. Due to COVID considerations, this will be an outdoor only event.

We hope to see you there!

We invite all Overfield Alumni back to experience one of our most beloved traditions. Walk an illuminated storybook trail featuring Eve Bunting’s beautiful wintertime tale. Hang a treat for our local animals, and take supplies home to make a piece of Overfield-inspired art. Bring a flashlight, and wear warm winter clothes.

Due to COVID concerns this will be an outdoor only event. The trail will begin in front of the main building at Overfield.

Let us know you’re coming and find out who will be there on Facebook @overfieldalumni
