This will be a short week, with school closed Thursday and Friday so that families can celebrate Thanksgiving. All classes except Toddlers will also be closed the following Monday, December 2 for family conferences…

Child care is available during conferences if you sign up ahead of time. Call or email the office to let us know you would like to reserve a spot. Child care will be provided from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday, December 2 and from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 3.

Thank you to Overfield Family Partnership for approving the purchase of a new computer, an LCD projector, and SIX new cameras at their meeting last night. Our teachers use technology every day — to prepare, to inspire, to document and revisit, and to stay in communication with our wonderful families. We could not do this work without the ongoing support of the Partnership to keep our technology up-to-date. Thank you!

brrr!!! We’ve had some cold, wet days and there are more headed our way. Please send warm gear for your kids: hats, mittens, and boots. There’s so much to be learned outside in the winter, and gross motor development is very important to young children, so we will go outside every day that the temperature rises above 20 degrees.

Daily Health Checks will help us keep illness at bay this winter. To prevent the spread of contagious diseases among our children, it’s important to monitor them for the following symptoms:

  • temperature of 100 degrees or more within 24 hours of the start of school
  • nausea or vomiting
  • sore throat
  • runny nose
  • stiff neck, with an elevated temperature
  • severe cough
  • earache
  • fresh cold
  • diarrhea (3 or more incidents within a 24-hour period)
  • difficult or rapid breathing
  • red, burning, itching, or obviously discharging eyes
  • yellowish skin or eyes
  • unusually dark urine or grey and white stool
  • untreated, infected skin patches
  • evidence of lice infestation, scabies, or other parasitic infestations

Children should be kept at home if they exhibit any of these symptoms. If a teacher notices any of these symptoms, a parent will be called to come for the child.

Thank you for doing your part to help us keep our kids healthy. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
