Families are invited to walk through our beautiful campus, which will be filled with the colors, sounds, and scents of the fall season at Overfield! During the daytime hours we will have hay rides, games, and art experiences. When the sun goes down, we will light up the night with a trail of illuminated pumpkins and festive lights. To make this a success we need your help!
One way to help Overfield is to buy a pumpkin from the Overfield Pumpkin Patch! All money raised goes right back to Overfield. Pumpkins are $5 each, and can be found in front of the vegetable garden if you want a quick “grab and go” purchase. If you’d like a longer stroll and more selection, you can walk in the meadow behind the playground to choose a pumpkin from our “pumpkin patch.” To purchase, please send payment through Venmo @Payments-Overfield and put “pumpkin” in the notes. Or, pay by cash or check and give the money to your child’s classroom teacher. Exact change only, please, for cash purchases. Pumpkins may also be purchased and carved on the day of the event.
Enjoy a hay ride, simple fall-themed games, art opportunities, pumpkin carving, music, a warm campfire, and delicious snacks from 4-7 pm. Please email email@example.com if you are interested in volunteering for an hour shift.
Once you’ve paid for and picked the perfect pumpkin, carve your favorite design and bring it back to campus to add it to our 4th annual Pumpkin Glow–an illuminated trail of carved pumpkins. Enjoy a lighted display and warm campfire with your family and friends on Overfield’s beautiful campus! Pumpkins will be illuminated at 6:30 pm.
This event is open to Overfield families–current and alumni–as well as friends of Overfield. Feel free to invite your non-Overfield friends to experience this luminous fun alongside your family. We are looking forward to lots of creative pumpkins to guide us through the Overfield campus. See you there!
Welcome Beth Wright, Visiting Artist!
Beth Wright, our first visiting artist of the year, will be at Overfield the weeks of October 25th and November 1st. Beth is a preschool and elementary artist from Muse Machine.
According to the Muse Machine website, “Beth Wright is a dancer, choreographer and educator of dance. A former member of the Dayton favorite Rhythm in Shoes and currently affiliated with Puddingstone Project, she has performed for audiences and taught dancers of all ages nationwide. Beth is comfortable with all grade levels and is particularly fond of working with early childhood. One of her favorite Muse experiences was as an artist and project administrator for PNC’s project, For Me, For You, For Later, which taught basic financial education to pre-kindergarten students throughout Dayton Metro Libraries and area preschools.
Arts Integration with Beth
Beth uses movement, rhythm, choreography and improvisation to allow the students to view and experience state curriculum in a unique way. Integrating dance into the curriculum allows the students to learn through multiple senses. It also deepens the learning experience and the comprehension of the material. Getting up and moving is a fun way to learn and to make the lesson “stick!'”
Many thanks to the Ohio Arts Council, whose grant support makes this program possible!
Please join us in welcoming Beth to Overfield!
